Our Mission

“Redemption Church has been called to reach the spiritually lost in our community by engaging in radical love and making disciples. When we equip other believers through teaching, worship, and small groups,

we can send them to do the same.”

Ministry Statement

Redemption Church exists so that others may also experience his redemption. We can only accomplish this when we fulfill the purpose of the Church founded by Jesus.

The purpose of the church is to glorify and magnify Jesus through worship, the sacraments (baptism and communion), and by declaring his wonderful gospel: the Good News of God who pursues sinners and redeems them for his purpose. The local church should declare the gospel individually and through community outreach.

The church accomplishes this purpose through the gathering and fellowship of the believers (with the inclusion of unbelievers and outsiders). Acts 2:42 describes our purpose by saying, “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”  According to this verse, the church fulfills its purpose through:

  • Biblically-sound preaching and teaching

  • Engaging and encouraging one another through fellowship

  • Observing the Lord's supper,

  • And by praying together.

The main role of the pastor is to oversee and lead the congregation as a shepherd of the flock through biblical, and evangelical preaching every week. He needs to show pastoral care and love for his congregation by actively involving himself with the flock - visiting the sick, praying for others, counseling them when needed, and protecting his flock from wolves and false teachers.

The church is the platform for all believers to fulfill Jesus' “Great Commission” (Matt 28:16-20) and his “Great Commandment” (Matt 22: 36-40) – the church can only be “great” when we pursue his purpose.

The main role of the believer is to also glorify and magnify Jesus in their life, as they are active in the church. Involvement in the church is vital for every believer.

We believe that small groups help the church and the individual to fulfill our purpose in Christ. We are all called to make disciples of Jesus and to teach them to obey him.

Our Beliefs

A message from Pastor Tim...

Our beliefs come from the Bible, the inspired Word of God – which we should read continually, and which is inerrant & infallible. We believe in the triune nature of God: three distinct Persons, but one God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God has revealed himself through his wonderful creation (Rom 1:19-20; Psalm 8:3-4; Psalm 19:1-6, etc) and by his written word, his holy scripture (2 Tim 3:16; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12-13, etc).

God in his sovereignty, created the universe and everything by his word (Gen 1, John 1:3, Psalm 95:4-5, Rom 1:20, etc). God created everything in love and in wisdom (Jer 10:12; Psalm 104:24; Psalm 139:13).

Mankind is God's special creation – he created us in his image (Gen 1:27) and for his purpose (Eph 1:5, 9, 11). Because of our nature (through Adam), man is fallen and sinful (Rom 5:12). But God consigned us to disobedience to display his wonderful mercy for us (Rom 11:32). And even before the foundation of the world, he chose us to be his and for us to be blameless and walk in righteousness (Eph 1:4-6) – so that those who cry out to God, and everyone who declares “with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom 10:9).

Jesus Christ died on a cross and offered his blood for our redemption and for the forgiveness of our sins, and for us to be made right with God (Eph 1:7; 1 Cor 15:3-4; Rom 4:25; 1 Pet 3:18, etc). According to John 3:16, God loved the world and gave us his Son, Jesus so that we might have eternal life through our faith in him. Every person needs to repent of their sins and turn to the Lord Jesus (Matt 3:8, 4:17; Acts 3:19; Psalm 145:18, etc). Those who continually reject Jesus and defend their sinful life will endure hell forever.

We have nothing to offer God – his salvation for us is a complete gift according to the riches of his glorious grace – our salvation was not earned by obedience to the Law. The righteousness of the believer comes from God. It was imputed to us (Rom 3:22, 4:5, 8:4, 10:4; 2 Cor 5:21; Phil 3:9). We're all sinners, Jews and Gentiles - we're all in the same boat (Rom 3) – all of us are in utter need of Jesus who did it all on the cross for us (Isaiah 53:5; 1 John 2:2; Col 2:14; Gal 3:13; Rom 3:20-24, etc). Every believer has been fully sanctified, consecrated, and set apart to do the work of God for his purpose (Rom 15:16; Acts 15:9, 20:32, 26:18; 1 Cor 6:11; Eph 2:10; Titus 3:5, etc).

OUR VALUES

Compassion

(σπλαγχνίζομαι - splangkh-nid'-zom-ahee)

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless

-Matthew 9:36

We seek to display radical love and minister to those in our community because Jesus demonstrated his radical love for us.  We are willing to be risk-takers and participate in messy ministry as we become involved in the lives of the lost, hungry, and spiritually broken.
